Wall Hanging

Today I found this photograph of a wall hanging on the internet. Its a fine example of Indian embroidery and motifs. The artist has used chain stitch, rabari, mirror work, etc to painstakingly make this colourful piece.

If you see closely you will notice that he has embroidered parrots [did you notice the curved beaks and green bodies?] even on the borders.

Gujarat & Rajasthan are very famous for such embroidery. I have seen one such piece [in any form cushions covers, table mats, wall hangings] in almost very household in Gujarat and Rajasthan. Such pieces can be very interesting gift items and add an ethnic and colourful touch to you homes 🙂 .
